Who Needs Sex ed?
we do!

Hello and welcome to Who Needs Sex Education?, a blog dedicated to sex education.

This blog is run by bizarropurugly, with help coming from blankmuse and nyasupa.

We are not medical professionals. Instead, we are people passionate about sexology and social justice, dedicated to spreading correct information about our lives and embracing new ideas about the nuances of the human social experience; our identities, our relationships to others, our health, and our development.

About

Originally, this blog was created to run like the blog Who Needs Feminism?, in which users would submit their stories and experiences with the failure of sex education today (particularly in sex shaming societies and countries). However, over the years we have evolved to being more involved with sex education in general, including by answering questions sent in by people in need of answers.

So what do we mean by sex education? Well, proper comprehensive sex education doesn’t just cover sexual and reproductive health, but also healthy relationships, abuse, abuse culture, rape culture, rape, sexual abuse, assault, and harassment, patriarchy, feminism, skin health, intactivism, anatomy, circumcision, parenting, gender roles and stereotyping, queerphobia/homophobia/heterosexism, children’s rights and child abuse, sex/adult toys, body and genital surgeries, transitioning needs, sexual orientation, identity, romantic orientation, sexual and reproductive rights, sexual development, pregnancy, alternative sexual lifestyles (“kink”), sex work, contraception and abortion, childbirth, masutrbation, sexual activity, transphobia/cissexism, sexism, teen health, racism, safer sex, consent, bodily integrity, body image and positivity, diet culture, sex/slut shaming, whorephobia, self love, mental health, intersex, transgender, the menstrual cycle, transmisogyny, general health, gender, periods/menstruation, STIs, healthism, ableism, and so much more.

Sex education is about more than just teaching cis straight people how to have missionary, penis-in-vagina sex - it’s about one’s sexuality and identity as a whole, and all the issues surrounding such things.
